Úlfljótsvatn
Úlfljótsvatn’s campsite is one of the largest in Iceland, able to fit up to 5000 guests during Scout camps. During normal campsite operations, the campsite is divided into 18 zones with over 170 individual camping spots with electricity available at many of them, and water outlets, as well as bathroom and shower facilities. See map for further details. Some of the zones are right by the lake, but otherwise it is only a short walk away. NOTE - The campsite will close for winter on 17th of November. Grass pitches will be closed down, one by one, during fall, but the winter camping zone (on the parking area) will remain open. Access to the service center, toilets and shower will remain.
About Úlfljótsvatn
Úlfljótsvatn Scout and Adventure Center, has been the home of the Icelandic scouts for over 80 years. Located in the southwest of Iceland, Úlfljótsvatn campsite sits in a privileged environment full of outdoor opportunities, natural beauty and unlimited wonder. Every year, all year round, we welcome Scout groups, youth organisations, schools, campers, families and companies. Whether it’s going up the tallest climbing tower in Iceland, hitting the bullseye in archery, kayaking or dipping in the lake, hiking, or simply camping with friends and family, Úlfljótsvatn will have it’s doors open for those who want to be part of our home.
The campsite will close for winter on 17th of November, we will open again some time in spring 2026. We look forward to welcoming you then!

Good to know
Included in the fee is access to hot showers, barbecues, a service house and fishing in the lake (within campsite during summer).
Hiking trails and a frisbeegolf course nearby.
Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult guardian.
Each accommodation unit is reserved approx. 80 sqm of space. Please leave at least 4 meters (13 ft) between accommodation units/cars, for fire safety.
Please use only the specific spot/electricity you have booked. Consult with campsite staff if you need to move.
We kindly ask our guests to leave cars (other than campervans, RVs, etc.) on the parking lot, instead of on the grass, if at all possible.
