If you are looking for a family friendly campsite near Reykjavik, Hafnarfjordur Camping is the place for you. The campsite is close to all services, shopping and many tourist activities. City buses stop nearby, as well as the bus to Keflavik international airport.
Open from May 2nd to September 30th
Located in the heart of Víðistaðatún Park, our campsite offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by lava formations and outdoor art installations. Just a 5-minute walk from the town centre of Hafnarfjörður and a 15-minute drive from downtown Reykjavík, you’ll enjoy the perfect balance between tranquillity and convenience.
Hafnarfjörður, Iceland’s third-largest town, has around 30,000 residents. Its name, meaning “Harbour Fjord,” reflects its rich history as a major fishing and trading hub. Built on lava fields, the town is steeped in Icelandic folklore, with legends of elves, dwarves, and Hidden Folk said to inhabit the mystical boulders found throughout the area.
The local Scout group proudly operates Hafnarfjörður Campsite. All proceeds directly support Scouting activities for youth in the community. By staying here, you’re contributing to a great cause! We look forward to welcoming you and ensuring a comfortable stay in our beautiful, family-friendly environment.
